Dear Mercy, I wonder would it be possible to postpone the visit you and Arthur were going to make here this weekend. Marie has not been well and is in bed at present and I expect will be for the next week. I am very very sorry about giving you such short notice for I had been looking forward to your visit, but I simply can't help it. Please explain to Arthur Harvey and assure him that I'm not just being evasive about meeting him. I think that, in the circumstances, it would be better to wait until I can fit a weekend.
